Angela Pruett named Chief Nursing Officer of Highpoint Health – Winchester/Sewanee with Ascension Saint Thomas

Highpoint Health – Winchester/Sewanee with Ascension Saint Thomas announced that Angela Pruett, MSN, RN, CPPS has been named Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) of Highpoint Health – Winchester/Sewanee, effective January 11, 2026. Pruett joins Highpoint Health – Winchester/Sewanee from Highpoint Health – Riverview and Trousdale where she serves as Chief Nursing Officer.

Her commitment to patient care, physicians, employees and the community is evident in all that she does, and I know that she will help us further advance our mission of making communities healthier.

As CNO at Highpoint Health – Riverview and Trousdale, Pruett provided oversight of all nursing practice and efficiency, including budgeting and staffing, while leading significant quality and patient experience initiatives. Under her leadership, the hospitals achieved a CMS 5-Star Rating, received Chartis Performance Leadership Awards for Patient Experience and Quality, were designated among the NRHA Top 20 Critical Access Hospitals for Quality, were named Becker’s Top Hospitals for Nurse Communication, and earned The Joint Commission Stroke-Ready Certification. Angela also remained actively engaged in the community, supporting local initiatives and fostering strong partnerships that strengthened care across the region.

Prior to her role as CNO at Highpoint Health – Riverview and Trousdale, Pruett served in numerous healthcare leadership roles, including Interim CNO and Vice President of Nursing Operations at Highpoint Health – Sumner in Gallatin, Tennessee; Senior Nursing Director of Surgical Services and Specialty Care at Highpoint Health – Sumner; and Nursing Director and Patient Safety Officer at Highpoint Health – Sumner.

Pruett holds a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus in Leadership and Management from Western Governors University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Cumberland University. She is a Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) and has been recognized for her leadership and commitment to quality, patient safety, and nursing excellence.

Diagnostic imaging services include MRI, CT, PET/CT, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, and X-ray. The hospital’s 13-bay Emergency Department sees more than 15,000 patient visits annually.

Highpoint Health – Sewanee with Ascension Saint Thomas, located on the campus of the University of the South, is a 41-bed facility offering 21 general acute care beds and 20 skilled nursing beds. It includes a 4-bay Emergency Department that treats more than 5,000 patients each year.
