Advancing Care with Robotic-assisted Surgery

surgical robot Xi

The surgical robot, Xi, was designed with the goal of further advancing the technology used in minimally invasive surgery. This technology can be used across a wide range of minimally invasive surgical procedures including the areas of urology, gynecology, thoracic, general surgery and colorectal surgery.

The surgeon is 100% in control of the robotic-assisted system, which translates his/her hand movements into smaller, more precise movements of tiny instruments inside the patient’s body. The robot is utilized as a tool, enabling the ability to achieve trimmer-filtering, extremely precise movements of the tiny instruments that are placed within the patient.  Robot-assisted operations are done through small incisions instead of one large one. Patients typically have less pain, less scarring, shorter hospital stays and faster recovery. The robot’s vision system also delivers highly magnified, high-definition 3D views of the surgical area, providing surgeons an enhanced view. This also allows for greater precision and control for the surgeon.
