HighPoint Health System Names Mize Administrator of Trousdale Medical Center
Veteran Hospital Administrator Named Administrator of TMC & Director of Network Operations

HighPoint Health System CEO Mary Jo Lewis today announced Bill Mize has been named the health system’s Administrator of Trousdale Medical Center and Director of Network Operations.

Mize, who has most recently served as Vice President of Operations for HighPoint’s flagship hospital Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin, will now be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the system’s 25-bed critical access hospital in Hartsville, Trousdale Medical Center, a role he held previously, and will provide additional oversight of Sumner Rehab Services and Sumner Regional Medical Center’s off-site operations, including Laboratory Services and Medical Imaging at Westmoreland Clinic, Rehabilitation Services and Development at Sumner Station, Sumner Crossroads in White House, and Family Wellness Group, the system’s physician practice located in Hendersonville.

“I am pleased to announce Bill Mize in this new and expanded role within HighPoint Health System,” said Lewis.  “Bill played a vital role in helping our system weather the challenges of a financial turnaround, and has assisted me greatly as a member of the operations team at HighPoint.  I know the associates and physicians at Trousdale are thrilled to be getting him back, and I look forward to working with him in this role as he works to expand our off-site services at SRMC.”

Mize has been with HighPoint Health System since 1994, when he joined then-Sumner Regional Health Systems, Inc., as the system’s Vice President of Operations.  He served in that role for six years, and was named Administrator of Trousdale Medical Center in 2000.  He was Administrator of the Hartsville, Tenn., hospital until July 2009, when he came back to Sumner Regional Medical Center to operate as the health system’s Vice President of Operations for a second time.

“I had to the chance to come back to SRMC to gain a new perspective on our growing health system, and I am thankful to have had that opportunity so that I can go back to Trousdale Medical Center with a new set of eyes to assist the physicians and the staff as we work together to grow the services of this valuable community hospital,” said Mize.  “Trousdale Medical Center is filled with a great staff, excellent physicians and is supported by a strong community.  I’m pleased to be back in Hartsville.”

Mize’s extensive health care administration experience includes working as the Administrative Officer of the Department of Neurology at Vanderbilt University Medical School, as the Director of Professional Services for Metropolitan Nashville General Hospital, as the Division Vice President of Rebound, Inc., in Gallatin, as the Assistant Administrator of HCA-Donelson Hospital in Nashville, and as Assistant Hospital Administrator at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
In addition to his work in the field of health care, Mize also served in the armed forces.  He completed 23 years of service with the U.S. Army Reserve, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, and served during Desert Shield/Desert Storm from November 1990 until May 1991.

Mize earned his bachelor’s degree in Latin from Tulane University, New Orleans, and a master’s degree in Hospital and Health Administration from the University of Alabama, Birmingham. He is a founding member of the Upper Cumberland Rural Health Network, a member of the American College of Health Care Executives, and is a former member of the Board of Directors and a past president of the Trousdale/Hartsville Chamber of Commerce.
