HighPoint Health System provides community classes on health topics ranging from birthing and childhood to sleep apnea to hobbies such as gardening and healthy cooking. We also offer support groups for patients, family members as well as members of the community who wish to share experiences and information.

Breastfeeding Basics
Meets the fourth Tuesday of every month from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m.
This free class is recommended for mothers-to-be during the sixth to eighth months of pregnancy. Mothers are welcomed to invite their significant other or support person.

Prepared Childbirth Class
Meets first four consecutive Mondays every month from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m.
Registration for this free class series is recommended but not required. Having a baby is a special experience. New parents, and even experienced ones, may find the addition of a new family member overwhelming. Special Delivery 101 prepares parents-to-be for pregnancy, labor, delivery and newborn care. Simply knowing what to expect can help ease much of the apprehension and concern associated with having a baby. We encourage mothers-to-be to attend during the seventh or eighth month of pregnancy and to bring their spouse or support person.

American Heart Association Resuscitation Courses
The Training & Education Department of HighPoint Health System is pleased to offer several AHA courses to the general public. A course manual is required for each class and may be purchased through the AHA link below. A current BLS card is required to take a Provider (New) ACLS or PALS class. A current ACLS or PALS Provider card is required to take the corresponding Renewal ACLS or PALS class. Completion of a pretest is also required for all ACLS and PALS courses.

Community Grief Support Series
Free class series for those who have lost a loved one during the past year or those with unresolved loss.
This class is led by a certified grief counselor, and covers several topics, such as “Grief, Loss and Death,” “Feelings Associated with Loss and Death,” “Stages of Grief,” “Rebuilding my Life with Major Adjustments,” “Ways in Which I’ve Changed/Who Am I?” and “Accepting and Letting Go.” Participants can also share their thoughts and feelings about adjustments to their lives since the deaths of their loved ones. Sharing with others who have experienced similar loss may assist you in understanding the normal feelings, emotions and questions that accompany grief.

Multiple Sclerosis Support Group
The Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Mid South Chapter offers a self-help group in the SRMC the first Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m. in the Fairvue Room. The Society’s self-help groups offer support and information about living with MS.

Diabetes Self-Management Classes
The Diabetes Self-Management Center is an American Diabetes Association accredited program offering comprehensive diabetes services to outpatients and their significant others. Instruction is offered to children and adults with type 1, type 2, and gestational diabetes. Participants are offered group classes consisting of two sessions lasting three to four hours each and/ or as appropriate for the participant, one to one counseling is provided in a private setting. All pediatric, gestational, and special needs participants receive individual instruction.

Diabetes Support Group
The Diabetes Support Group meets every second Tuesday of the month in the RRMC South Conference Room. Individuals with diabetes and those who care for diabetics are welcome to attend. Learn what is new in diabetes care from professionals and how to manage this disease from fellow diabetics.
