Mary Jo Lewis, FACHE
Chief Executive Officer

An experienced hospital leader, Mary Jo Lewis served as CEO of Jackson Purchase Medical Center (JPMC) in Mayfield, Ky., which is also part of LifePoint Hospitals, for the last 11 years. Under her leadership, the JPMC team achieved many extraordinary accomplishments. In 2003, JPMC received LifePoint Hospitals’ High Five Award for reaching the highest level of operational excellence in the company. Because of Lewis’s focus on quality care and patient service, during her tenure JPMC was consistently a top performer among LifePoint’s hospitals in achieving high levels of patient satisfaction. In 2009, JPMC was recognized as one of Thomson Reuters 100 Top Hospitals® based on the hospital’s outstanding overall organizational performance. Also, the last two years in a row, JPMC was named one the “100 Best Places to Work in Healthcare” by Modern Healthcare magazine, a prestigious national award that recognizes workplace excellence.

 

Prior to joining JPMC in 1999, Lewis worked for 11 years at Parkway Regional Hospital in Fulton, Ky., where she started as Controller then served as Administrator for the majority of her tenure. She earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Tennessee at Martin, then a master’s degree in finance from Benedictine University in Lisle, Ill. Lewis is board-certified in healthcare management as a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

 

 

Steve Moore
Chief Financial Officer

Steve Moore became Chief Financial Officer of HighPoint Health System in November 2010. Steve joined HighPoint from another hospital within the LifePoint family, Southern Tennessee Medical Center in Winchester and its Emerald Hodgson Hospital campus in Sewanee, where he served as CFO for four years. Moore has extensive experience in hospital financial management. 

 

Prior to joining LifePoint, he served as assistant CFO at North Okaloosa Medical Center in Crestview, Fla. He also served as controller for both Saint Francis Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospital in West Virginia. Moore has a bachelor of science in business administration with a concentration in accounting from Concord College in Athens, WV. 

 

 

Michael S. Herman
Chief Operating Officer

Mike Herman came to HighPoint Health System as Chief Operating Officer in 2011 from Trident Health System in Charleston, SC.  He spent three years at Trident as Vice President of Operations at the system's 94-bed Summerville Medical Center in Summerville, and brought more than a decade of senior-level operations experience to HighPoint.  Prior to that, he worked for three years as the Senior Operations Analyst at the 242-bed Doctors Hospital of Augusta, Ga., and spent four years at the 278-bed North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville, Fla., where he started as the Operating Department Administrative Assistant and Sterile Processing Tech, before being promoted to Operations Analyst for the hospital.

 

Herman earned both a bachelor's degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition and a master's degree in Health Administration at the University of Florida, Gainesville.   He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, and a member of the Gallatin Morning Rotary Club. Herman is also a graduate of Leadership Augusta.
